Sport activity

(Article 27, paragraph 1, letter p, and paragraph 5 b, Legislative Decree No. 286/98 and subsequent amendments; Article 40 of DPR No. 394/99 and subsequent amendments)

FOREIGNERS INTENDING TO ENGAGE IN ANY TYPE OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS ACTIVITY WITHIN ITALIAN SPORTS CLUBS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF LAW NO. 9 OF MARCH 23, 1981.

1. Completed and signed application by the applicant (Forms 1 and 2).
2. Photocopy of the entire passport or another equivalent document (see table No. 4).
3. For the issuance of the residence permit, Forms 1 and 2 are filled out at the Immigration One-Stop Office when signing the employment residence contract.
4. For the renewal of the residence permit, in addition to the application mentioned in point a), it must be accompanied by a photocopy of the residence contract signed between the parties and a copy of the return receipt of the registered mail by which it was sent to the Immigration One-Stop Office.
5. Professional sports activities can also be carried out independently.
6. In such cases, the residence permit application must be accompanied by:
   • Completed and signed application by the applicant (Forms 1 and 2).
   • Photocopy of the entire passport or another equivalent document (see table No. 4).

For renewal:

1. Completed and signed application by the applicant (Forms 1 and 2).
2. Photocopy of the entire passport or another equivalent document (see table No. 4).
3. Photocopy of the income statement.

NOTES:
– The residence permit can be renewed to allow the transfer of the foreign athlete between different sports clubs within the same federation, subject to the conclusion of a new employment residence contract.
– For foreign athletes, the work permit is replaced by the CONI’s (Italian National Olympic Committee) nominative declaration of consent within the maximum annual limit of entry for foreign athletes set by the programming decree of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.
– The nominative declaration of consent from CONI is also required when it involves self-employment.
